John Cooper Clarke and the Curious Yellows

Innocents EP

The first single by JCC and the Curious Yellows. It was billed as the 'Innocents EP,' catalog No. Tosh 103. Produced by 'Martin Zero' for the Criminal Gramaphone Co., and released in the late seventies on Martin Hannett's 'Rabid' label in a very thin and primitive picture sleeve.

A Punkish performance by John and an actual band. Note that this is a totally different version to that which appears on the Disguise in Love album.

Extremely collectable, this single is changing hands for ever increasing prices - wish I could afford one myself.

Side 1: Suspended Sentence / Innocents

Side 2: Psycle Sluts Parts 1 & 2.

All three tracks are now available on CD thanks to Receiver Records - see Rabid/TJM Punk Singles

Trivia Note 1: In an interview in the eighties, JCC explained that they called themselves the Curious Yellows because they all had hepatitis at the time.

Trivia Note 2: Frank Zappa played Psycle Sluts in 1980 on BBC's Radio One when he was acting as a guest DJ and playing his favorite records. Strangely, he introduced it as... "Sickle Sluts," and he described JCC as a man with “exquisite diction.”
