Dumpster Special

After a couple of hiccups (both humorous and disappointing) the County did finally arrange for a dumpster to be delivered near one of the big builder piles here. I wanted to start with this one since it is the closest eyesore to my cabin and one of the oldest piles that I know of (from a time that time forgot). The following pictures show the before and after effects of how effective a Trash Man Walking volunteer program can be... It actually only took a week to complete working two or three hours a day excluding the days when we had too much wind to do anything... and to give you an idea of how much we care about our environment, we picked up everything down to .025 microns in size that was non-native to the location.

Here's the Before shot.

And here's After... even a blind man might notice the difference.

Unfortunately, as you can imagine, several local critters had made this pile their home and were a little upset at its removal. A Red Racer was particularly upset and aggressively stalked me for a whole day like an angry Ariel Sharon. The Geckos and Lizards though just moved on peacefully.

Check out this little chap who now finds himself facing the prospect of seeking real food to eat instead of the plastic lid diet he's become accustomed to. And where will he get his fun now there's no more bottles to slip and slide around on?

Some 'Before and After' shots

With the availability of the dumpster, we took full advantage and crammed in a lot more stuff... And as I said at the top of the page, this is a very mini issue ...in a nutshell, time can be more productively spent 'out there' where the problem is ...with sleeves rolled up and hands getting dirty ...rather than spending it here putting together a long web page with just more pictures of trash sitting everywhere.

But without a few token pictures so you can at least see the difference with your own eyes, this page would be pointless... and who knows, maybe you'll think to yourself that you might like to have a go as well. It's good exercise, cleans the place up nicely, so kills two birds with one stone.

The desert actually looks pretty damn nice once you've peeled away the top layer of trash to see what's underneath
